About this independent notebook

A notebook for patient bonsai learning

Conditions before a finished image

Junglesortwalnt is an independent educational website about Japanese bonsai art. It is written for beginners and art-minded readers who want to understand both the living plant and the choices that shape its presentation.

Our central idea is simple: observation should precede intervention. A tree’s species, environment and recovery capacity matter more than copying a striking photograph.

How the guides are written

We separate general principles from decisions that need local knowledge. Care sections avoid universal watering schedules and borrowed seasonal dates. Design sections distinguish an artistic intention from a technique that may stress the tree.

When identification, chronology or cause is uncertain, the text should say so. A photograph illustrates a relationship; it does not verify species or establish a diagnosis.

How references are used

Museums and public collections provide cultural and historical context. General horticultural references support introductory explanations. Neither replaces hands-on, species-specific instruction in your growing region.

Links are offered for further reading, not as endorsements or affiliations. We do not present institutional names as evidence that an organization has reviewed this website.

Corrections and useful questions

If you spot a factual error, an unclear distinction or a broken reference, send the page URL and a concise explanation to [email protected]. A primary source is especially helpful when proposing a historical correction.

For a struggling tree, consult a qualified local resource rather than waiting for an editorial reply. The contact notebook can organize your observations into plain text, but nothing is sent automatically.
